InfoPark Thrissur is an information technology park situated in Koratty of Thrissur District in Kerala. This is the first information technology park in the state that has become operational under the ‘Hub and Spoke Model’, where InfoPark, Kochi acts as the hub and InfoPark Koratty as the spoke. The park is located 45 km from Kochi, 35 km from Thrissur and around 14 km from the Cochin International Airport at Nedumbassery. It is fully owned by the Government of Kerala. The InfoPark is associated with Kerala State IT Mission and Kerala State Information Technology Infrastructure Ltd.

Infrastructure

The Kerala Government has allotted 42 acres (170,000 m2) of land for the InfoPark. Currently, InfoPark possesses 30 acres (120,000 m2) of land for the development. The plot that was given to set up the InfoPark earlier housed the Madura Coats factory. InfoPark has planned three phases of development. The Phase I of InfoPark was launched by Kerala Chief Minister, V. S. Achuthanandan on October 10, 2009 with 12 medium-sized companies and an office space of 44,500 sq ft (4,130 m2). The Phase II of InfoPark was inaugurated on January 8, 2010, were another 18,240 sq ft (1,695 m2) was added. The construction of new multistory building has been inaugurated by Chief Minister of Kerala, Ommen Chandy on September 8, 2012.

In the Phase III and final phase, Government is planning to develop the 25 acres of InfoPark as a Special Economic Zone (SEZ) were 2-lakh-sqft building will be constructed. The new upcoming campus consisting of a multistory building, with more than two lakh square feet built up area got Special economic zone (SEZ) status from government of Indiain July 2014. The remaining land in the SEZ will be leased out to IT companies and co-developers for developing their own campuses. It is said that when the InfoPark becomes fully operational, it will have a built-up area of around 1,400,000 sq ft (130,000 m2). The campus have 4,640 sq ft (431 m2) food court, shared services and amenities, cafeteria, banks, ATM, utility stores, etc. are also available.

Infopark Thrissur gets ready to become the next IT hub

Breaking the paradigm of tech hubs booming in Metros like Bangalore and Kochi, an unnoticed variation in the trait of IT destinations is popping up with, Thrissur getting on to the top IT destinations as Infopark, Thrissur launches another phase.

In a round-table-conference with media, headed by Shri. Hrishikesh Nair, CEO of Infopark, the official launch of Indeevaram, anew IT building of Infopark Thrissur was announced. The event was held at Crowne Plaza, Kochi on 13th January 2016 with media persons of all prominent print and visual media partaking in it.

‘INDEEVARAM’, the new 3.3 lakhs sq.ft SEZ notified building will be inaugurated by Shri. Oommen Chandy, honorable Chief Minister on 21st January 2016. The technological high-rise offers built-up space in both plug n play and warm shell formats, with provisions for supporting amenities like bank and ATMs, conference facilities, food courts, auditorium etc. The new building will be ready for operations by February 2016 and is expected to give job openings to 3000 IT professionals. At the rare, five companies are privileged to receive keys of their IT spaces on the launch day.

The focus on this not much disturbed IT space is heading straight to a globally demanded piece of land in the Information Technology sector. The city is turning positive in popping up with multiple solutions to ensure best utility of its high potential. Shopping malls, multiplex theatres, engineering colleges, multi-specialty hospitals and other educational institutions are facilitating convenience for techies and ensuring flow of heavy talent pool.

“Thrissur has been a preferred and ideal location for techies which is very well visible in the high demand and rush to occupy the IT spaces of Indeevaram even before its launch,” said Hrishikesh Nair. “It’s a very good sign that may lead to enhancement of Infopark Thrissur to a hub in the future,” he added. Low cost of living, proximity to Cochin International Airport and National Highway, in addition to the lush greenery, calm and serene atmosphere of the campus is indeed a matter of attraction.
